BAHIA MASTER PLAN
This project is a reconstruction masterplan of Bahía de Caraquez, one of the most affected regions from the 16 April, 2016 earthquake in Ecuador. It consists of seven separate lots where each is developed by a pair of students using one single house design which has the posibility to expand according to the economic possibilities of each family, having in mind they lost all their belongings. The sense of community and integrity should be strong to promote collaboration between families which made the grouping of houses one of the key factors of the urban design as well as preserving the watching tower with a cross monument which is iconic to the city. A large boulevard with an elevated pedestrian walkway along the seven lots, separates the urbanized area from the road characterized by a high vehicular flow as well as to engage civilians and promote small businesses from the houses bordering the boulevard.
